The Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Design of Lutsk National Technical University has launched a student design and technical bureau called “Cost Estimation Bureau.”
The main reason for its establishment is the demand from construction organizations in Lutsk and the Volyn region for highly qualified cost estimation specialists.

Rector of LNTU Iryna Vakhovych noted that the purpose of the bureau is to enable students to acquire new knowledge, practical skills, and competencies in preparing cost estimates using the AVK-5 software package.
She emphasized that cost engineers are essential to all participants in the construction process — clients, designers, and builders.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Design Oleksandr Andriichuk stressed that, alongside studying the discipline “Construction Pricing,” students’ participation in the newly established bureau will significantly deepen their knowledge and practical skills in preparing project and estimate documentation.
He also informed students that many construction companies are actively seeking to employ cost engineers.

The discussion of the bureau’s activities and available job opportunities for LNTU civil engineering students involved several representatives of local authorities and businesses, including:
Vasyl Lishchuk – Head of the Department of Capital Construction of the Lutsk City Council;
Andrii Ostrovetskyi – Head of the Production and Technical Department of the Volyn Branch of “Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine”;
Serhii Maksymchuk – Head of the Development Planning Department of the Volyn Branch of “Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine”;
Ivan Kobak – Director of the construction company “West Road Group”;
Andrii Tarasiuk – Director of “SVM Prime” LLC.

Head of the newly established bureau, Associate Professor of the Department of Building and Civil Engineering, Dmytro Kysliuk, informed participants that the main areas of the bureau’s work include:
-
Developing project and cost estimate documentation for bachelor’s and master’s theses as well as for real construction projects;
-
Preparing defect reports jointly with the inspections carried out by the research and construction laboratory of the faculty;
-
Conducting techno-economic comparisons of various construction options and methods.

Currently, the bureau is planning its work for the academic year, actively recruiting interested students, and preparing schedules for theoretical training sessions.
Head of the Department of Building and Civil Engineering, Olha Uzhehova, emphasized that the creation of the bureau is a significant step forward in improving the quality of education for civil engineering students.
In the near future, the bureau will also establish active cooperation with local authorities and construction companies to ensure high-quality training of cost estimation specialists.
