From June 12-16, Université Côte d’Azur (Nice, France) hosted participants of the OPTIMA project (Open Practices, Transparency and Integrity for Modern Academia). At the same time, the international forum DIGITAL WEEK 2023 took place, gathering experienced researchers and digital technology specialists from various fields. Presentations on best practices in digital transformation and educational and research innovations from universities worldwide, including Côte d’Azur, Toronto, Haaga Helia, and Australian universities, were showcased. The central seminar locations were Campus Saint Jean d’Angély and Campus Valrose.

Lutsk National Technical University participants included the Dean of FCOST, OPTIMA project coordinator, Associate Professor Halyna Herasymchuk, and Deputy Dean for Partnerships, Associate Professor Oksana Kovalchuk.

Highlights from the OPTIMA team’s busy schedule included:
- Alexander Berezko from Lviv Polytechnic presented the International Open Peer Review Platform for Ukraine.
- Nicky Lisa Cole from TU Graz (Austria) shared experiences and emphasised overcoming challenges in open science and qualitative research.
- Wojciech Wodo from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland) discussed electronic identity and digital trust services ecosystems.
Training sessions featured various topics, including open science practices, data management in open science, and innovative tools and practices. Presentations from leading researchers covered a range of creative issues, such as:
- Gocha Mikiashvili discussed building adaptation with renewable energy consumption.
- Kenneth Maussang from the University of Montpellier presented digital tools for non-scientists involvement in research.
- Michel Buffa and Jean Francois Trubert from Université Côte d’Azur explored the concept of distributive creation and live performance with web audio modules.
- Maxence Mercier introduced sound trajectory software for spatial audio.
- Erica Romero Pender and Carlos Moreno Tejera from Spain presented brilliant music venues for digital and sustainable optimisation.

The team visited Valrose University, receiving valuable tips for organising online courses and video content preparation. OPTIMA members recorded podcasts and short videos on open science topics at the Université Côte d’Azur’s Active Pedagogy Center.

The final stage involved a working session on launching the open peer review platform and developing an online course on open science. French colleagues also organised a tour of the university library and the Human and Social Sciences Research House.
The collaboration with international colleagues is expected to lead to new scientific contributions and close international cooperation. Special thanks were given for the hospitable atmosphere at the university and the beautiful city of Nice, with its historical landmarks and scenic landscapes.
