Project “Academic Integrity and Quality Initiative – Academic IQ” administered by the American Councils for International Education in partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the National Agency for Education Quality Assurance, Academic IQ project aims to develop a professionalized workforce of educators and administrators who collaborate to support academic integrity across Ukrainian HEIs and secondary schools.
During 2020-2022, the Project team together with national and international experts:
- will provide its support to 60 selected universities to create an effective model of internal monitoring of the quality of education and implementation of the principles of academic integrity,
- will work on the development of the capabilities of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education and the development of a unified systemic approach to the implementation of legislative initiatives and requirements for academic integrity in universities,
- will provide Ukrainian educators with recommendations and training on the development and implementation of modern teaching methods, and practices of revision and adaptation of curricula, which will ensure compliance with academic integrity in the secondary education system of Ukraine.

The launch of the Academic IQ Initiative Project was preceded by the American Councils’ successful administration of the Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project – SAIUP (2016-2019) and the Seeding Academic Integrity in Secondary Schools Project – SAISS (2017-2019).

Seeding Academic Integrity in Secondary Schools Project – SAISS
Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Olena Kovalchuk, passed the tender selection for participation in the EducationUSA program "Internationalization Leadership Academy", which is designed to unite Ukrainian and American university lecturers, as well as their students with the help of virtual educational technologies.
Implementation period: 15.01.2020–01.03.2021.
Thus, Lutsk National Technical University entered the top 20 Ukrainian universities participating in the project. The project involves involvement in the virtual academic mobility program of the State University of New York (SUNY), in particular, close cooperation with the SUNY COIL Centre - a leader in the field of Globally Networked Learning (GNL). Within the framework of this program, there will be training on the creation of virtual exchange modules using the innovative educational model COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), which was developed for the implementation of internationalization strategies and is used by teachers in many countries around the world. Representatives of the SUNY COIL Centre will share with the project participants the latest developments and experience in creating virtual exchange modules, as well as help in finding partners from American universities and colleges among lecturers who are part of the professional network of the SUNY COIL Centre. It is one of the leading international organizations focused on the new field of Global Networked Learning (GNL), which uses a teaching and learning methodology that provides innovative cost-effective internationalization strategies.
The first step in the implementation of the program will be the completion of a one-week online workshop on familiarization with Collaborative Online International Learning. On November 16, 2020, Jane McCauley of SUNY COIL Centre gave a workshop "The COIL Basics".
We look forward to productive cooperation within the framework of this program.

Since 2014, a comprehensive reform of local self-government and territorial organization of power in Ukraine has been carried out based on decentralization. The international community consistently supports this reform and allocates significant resources for its implementation throughout the country.
The Council of Donors on Decentralization in Ukraine under the Ministry was created in 2017 and became one of the tools of such coordination. From July 1, 2016, to March 31, 2021, Lutsk National Technical University has been working on this project under the leadership of the coordinator V. Malinovskyi.
The donor of the program is the U.S. Agency for International Development USAID (PULSE).
The executor is the All-Ukrainian Association of Local Government Bodies “All-Ukrainian Association of Communities” (VAG) with the participation of 24 regional branches of the VAG.
The goal of the project - "Development of a course on strengthening local self-government in Ukraine” (PULSE) is aimed at a favourable environment creating for the decentralization reform in Ukraine implementation, strengthening local self-government, and deepening the democratic processes of territorial community development and state stability.

PULSE works in 24 regions of Ukraine. The project supports the work of industry consultants: on budget issues, legal issues, and communications issues. In addition, it supports six hubs of local economic development, the activities of which extend to all regions.

Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project (SAIUP) and Seeding Academic Integrity in Secondary School (SAISS) Project, administered by American Councils for International Education, promote reforms in Ukrainian Higher Education and Secondary Schools through a public diplomacy partnership with the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv (the Embassy). As a part of a four-year project, projects’ events are aimed at educating students and pupils, faculty and teachers, administrators and parents on the practical value and importance of academic integrity. We provide resources and a roadmap to closely involve participants in the educational process in strengthening academic integrity on campuses of their universities and in schools. Supporting the education and skill-building effort, both Projects hold public outreach activities and highlight integrity both on campus and in society. Also, SAIUP/SAISS work with the Ministry of Education and Science to enable key operational modification to underpin sustainable, lasting change to education in Ukraine on a national scale.

Creating ‘new rules’ of studying and teaching in the educational sphere of education through university/school-level policies and ministry-level regulatory reforms; support for Ukrainian HEIs in implementation of Article 42 Academic Integrity of ‘Law on Education’.
Creating a new academic culture based on trust, honesty, transparency, real learning and original research.
Skill-building in International Practices and Establishing University AI Framework (Education): cooperation with libraries; professional development courses for teachers; creating opportunities for scientists, faculty and PhD students to enhance academic writing skills in English and Ukrainian and other activities
