The LNTU presented the SMART Volyn Hub innovative project

Representatives of state, regional and local authorities, experts from Poland and scientists gathered at the Lutsk National Technical University to discuss the prospects of creating the SMART Volyn Hub as an object of innovative infrastructure in the Volyn region.

A long-known object in Lutsk, which was called the student cafe "Meridian", is now in a dilapidated state. It is extremely important to reconstruct and restore the three-story building, which is on the balance sheet of the National Technical University, rationally using the area and creating a modern and relevant initiative in its spaces.

Just such a creative project was presented today to the general public by the rector of the National Technical University Iryna Vakhovych. Currently, the university's efforts consist in creating various co-working zones, IT laboratories, robotics and business workshops, locations for designers, etc., and all this is planned to be implemented in "Meridian". The main goal of the project, adds Iryna Vakhovych, is to increase the competitiveness of the Volyn region, develop creative entrepreneurship and activate innovative activities: "Our goal is to create an innovation center where students can demonstrate their skills and implement bold ideas. By the way, the Polish government actively supports not only its own, but also Ukrainian students in order to successfully implement startups, so we can create such a center where our cooperation will be localized."

It is worth noting that SMART Volyn Hub plans to create co-working spaces, an event hall, robotics workshops, design, business and IT zones. At the same time, the building will have a cafeteria, a buffet and a rest area, as well as a conference hall for 420 seats. In addition, the "Manufacture of Creativity" business school will operate on the basis of the innovative space, where various meetings with experts, master classes, workshops, trainings will take place, and as a result of the activities, the development of startups and project pitching will take place.

As for the cost of the project, the total amount of its implementation is about 16 million hryvnias, of which almost 8 million are from the state and regional budgets. Completion of the project is expected in 2023. People's Deputy of Ukraine Vyacheslav Rublev emphasized that education becomes competitive only when innovative approaches are introduced, and LNTU today is an indicator of effective development: "It is very nice to see that LNTU is developing, including new innovative approaches. Previously, higher educational institutions did not have such state support, and today we cooperate so that LNTU provides the needs of Volyn and Ukraine with specialists in those specialties that are extremely important."

In his turn, the head of the Volyn Regional Council, Hryhoriy Nedopad, emphasized that the Volyn Regional Council has already joined the co-financing of the development of the design and estimate documentation of the project: "This is really new, we have to develop and Lutsk should become attractive for investors, for young people and for Ukraine. I am glad that this is happening on the territory of Lutsk."
