The development of advisory services in Ukraine is gaining considerable development, because one of the conditions for Ukraine's entrance to the European Union, in agricultural production, is the provision of advisory services for agricultural producers. The successful work of an agricultural advisor depends proportionately on two main factors - professionalism and the ability to teach. A study tour was organised to the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre for counsellors and representatives from 11 regions of Ukraine to increase their level of competence and obtain practical skills for training advisors. In particular, Anatolii Shvorak, Professor of the Department of Agronomy, and Doctor of Economics, was a delegate from LNTU.
The training took place within the framework of the program "Skills of Advisers in the Effective Organization of Knowledge Transfer and Innovations through Demonstrations" from October 14 to 21, 2023 under the project "Promoting the competitiveness of small and medium-size farmers through the Real Demonstration Method for Innovations and Knowledge Transfer in Crop and Livestock Production", supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia by the program "Support of Development Cooperation Projects in designated recipient countries", and is implemented by the Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre of the National Association of Agricultural Advisory Services of Ukraine.
At the end of the trip, the delegates were given an incredibly informative tour of the LATRAPS cooperative: more than 1,100 employees, a total land bank of 300,000 hectares, its distribution of machinery, PPE, fertilizers, insurance services, and this is not the whole list of what the cooperative does.
The main focus of the training was on organizing and carrying out demonstrations for manufacturers. New knowledge and skills will make the work of advisors more effective. The support of Latvian colleagues in the development of the Ukrainian advisory service is part of the great support that the Latvian nation provides to Ukraine today.
