Department of Electrical Engineering was established based on the authorization of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine under No. 5.1-5/1695 dated November 16, 1999, and Order No. 202. Department of Electrical Engineering is a graduate department of the Faculty of Architecture, Construction and Design, and trains students in the specialty 141 "Electrical energetics, electrical engineering and electromechanics". According to the accreditation results (SAC decision of February 9, 1999, protocol No. 8, certificate No. 034703), the specialty is accredited at the fourth level.
The first graduation of students in the specialty "Electricity supply and electricity conservation" took place in 1995. Since 1998, the department has been training specialists in specialty 7.090603 "Electrotechnical systems of power consumption". Since 2000, the Department of Electrical Engineering has started training masters of electrical engineering in the specialty 8.090603 "Electrotechnical systems of power consumption".
The first head of the department in 1999 was appointed the Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Liudmyla Davydenko. From 2003 to 2005, the department was headed by the Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Mykola Pietukhov, and from 2005 to 2017 - Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor Liubov Dobrovolska. In 2017 the head of the department became the Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Yurii Hrytsiuk. Today, the educational process at the department is provided by 12 lecturers, including 1 Professor and 11 Associate Professors.

In 1995, the first specialists were graduated. Today, seven department alumni are employed as Assistant Professors. The team is working on the modernization of existing laboratory equipment, acquisition of modern testbeds and devices, computerization of laboratory work, and practical classes.
Lectures are held in multimedia classrooms. The consolidation of theoretical material in the course of study is carried out by students in the department's laboratory.
Special attention is paid to the involvement of students in research activities. Students can choose the area of scientific activity. They present their achievements and the outcomes of scientific work at student scientific conferences and scientific seminars held at the department. The best works of students are published in the collection of student scientific articles on the subject of student scientific and technical conferences. Students have the opportunity to obtain a master's degree in specialty 141 "Electrical energetics, electrical engineering and electromechanics".
The department actively cooperates with regional employers, scientific and educational institutions: JSC "Volynoblenergo"; LLC Manufacturing enterprise "ELECTROSERVIS"; National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute". According to the cooperation agreements, students have the opportunity to undergo practice (educational and familiarization, production, pre-diploma).
Applicants with junior specialist diplomas in any field can study for a shortened period (2 years) on full-time and part-time courses in specialty 141 "Electrical energetics, electrical engineering and electromechanics".

The department's scientific field is "Modeling and management of electrotechnical systems of electricity consumption and optimization of their operation modes" (supervisor: Head of the Department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Yurii Hrytsiuk, tel. (095)889-37-92, email: hrytsiuk@ukr.net);
Within this field of investigation, scientific research at the department is conducted in the following areas:
- improvement of methods and means of compensation of reactive power in networks with sharply changing load (head of the department, Ph.D., Associate Professor Yurii Hrytsiuk, tel. (095)889-37-92, email: hrytsiuk@ukr.net);
- improvement and development of methods of analysis and increasing the efficiency of energy use in complex production systems (Ph.D., Associate Professor Taras Komenda, tel. (050)658-18-22, email: t.komenda@lutsk-ntu.com.ua);
- decentralized energy consumption systems and their energy efficiency (Ph.D., Professor Liubov Dobrovolska, tel. (096)290-02-30, email: lsobchuk@gmail.com).
A scientific seminar is held at the department of electricity supply, where lecturers and PhD students of the department give presentations on the scientific field of the department.
Since 2006, the staff of the department has been carrying out the International scientific and technical conference "Increasing the level of efficiency of energy consumption in electrotechnical devices and systems" and the All-Ukrainian scientific seminar "Problems and prospects of energy saving in utilities and industrial enterprises" once every two years.
In 1998, in cooperation with other departments of the university, the contract topic "Development of a comprehensive energy saving program of the Volyn region for 1997-2010" was completed. In 2014, the state budget research work carrying out "Application of static thyristor reactive power compensators with parametric inductance modulation to reduce electricity losses" » was finished. In 2015, the implementation of the state budget research project "Regional Policy for the Development of Renewable Energy" was started.
