Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor A. Holdovanskyi was appointed as the head. From 1999 to 2007, the Department was headed by Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor V. H. Kovalenko, from 2007 to 2014 - Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor V. B. Prykhodko, from 2014 - 2017 – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor A. P. Martyniuk, from 2017 - Candidate of Philological Sciences O. V. Smal, and since 2021 – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences A. P. Martyniuk.
The department offers a specialized educational program "Philology (Applied Linguistics)", which is licensed and accredited at the fourth level.
Applied linguistics is a field of study that investigates the practical application of language theory in different human activities. It involves creating systems for transcribing spoken language, transliterating foreign words, developing shorthand systems, standardizing terminology, creating artificial languages, automated information search systems, and developing methods for automatic annotation, abstracting, machine translation, and speech synthesis.
What makes the educational program "Philology (Applied Linguistics)" unique is that, in addition to studying two foreign languages (English and German) and linguistic disciplines, students also receive training in new computer technologies. This significantly expands their employment opportunities compared to graduates of other philological and technical specialties.
We offer not only high-quality education but also an exceptional experience and practical skills acquisition during a semester internship abroad.
A graduate with a degree in "Philology (Applied Linguistics)" can pursue various career opportunities, such as:
- Working as a specialist in the fields of philology, linguistics, and translation.
- Becoming an editor or translator for traditional multimedia publications, advertising, and other sites of various institutions.
- Pursuing a career as a specialist in the field of information and information analysis.
- Working as an SEO rewriter or Search Engine Optimization expert in advertising agencies and in the field of administrative and auxiliary office activities.
- Becoming a CIO/ Chief Information Officer - information manager.
- Exploring a career in SMM/ Social Media Marketing and becoming a specialist in this field.
