The Department of Industrial Machinery Engineering was established on July 1, 2017, based on the decision of the Academic Council of the University and the Rector's Order No. 754-04-33 dated December 17, 2016, by uniting the two departments "Machines of Light Industry" and "Equipment of the Forest Complex and the Theory of Mechanisms and Machines", which, in turn, was formed as a result of the merger of the departments "Forest Complex Equipment" and "Theory of Machine Mechanisms and Machine Parts" on September 1, 2011 (Order No. 142-06-32 dated August 31, 2011).

The history of the department began in 1986, when, according to the order of the Lutsk branch of the Lviv Polytechnic Institute, the department "Theories of Machine Mechanisms and Machine Parts" was established based on the department of general technical disciplines. Ph.D., Associate Professor I.I. Samolianov was elected the head of the department and held this position until June 2000. Since 2000, the department of TMM and DM has been headed by Ph.D., Prof. M.P. Yaroshevych. At different times, the following specialists worked at the department: Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Kralin V.A.; Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Kovalchuk R.M.; Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. D.M. Konovaliuk; senior lecturer Nalobin O.P.

The department "Equipment of the Forest Complex" was formed based on the decision of the Academic Council and the Order of the University dated September 1, 2007. The head of the department was elected Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Vrzhescha M.V.

In July 2003, to train students in specialty 7.090222 "Equipment of light industry and household service", the department "Machines of light industry" was created (Order of the Rector of the Lutsk State Technical University Prof. Bozhydarnik V.V. No. 151-В dated 13.07.2003), which was headed by Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Selezniov E.L.
