The main goal: To contribute to the modernization of the higher education system in Ukraine by introducing university centers of excellence to promote European educational innovations through professional certification of university teachers.
The project includes 3 specific objectives:
The creation of the CEC will allow university teachers to get an alternative, high-quality, and affordable opportunity for professional development and certification with an expanded choice of venues. This will increase the motivation to continuously improve professional skills, use successful European experience to improve the learning process, and ensure higher quality education. The WDC and the ever-growing pool of graduates will be able to provide a broad and sustainable impact on the professional development of teachers in the Ukrainian higher education system. The project will improve the educational infrastructure (opening of 9 WDCs) and create conditions for increasing the capacity of higher education institutions. The European partner universities will facilitate the implementation and adaptation of international experience throughout the project.
Together with European and Ukrainian experts, a teacher certification program will be developed. The evaluation of teachers during the internship will be based on European standards. All certified teachers will be entered into a specially created database. The project will develop professional standards for university teachers and propose mechanisms to improve the regulation of university teacher certification.
The curriculum of the professional development program should meet the current challenges in higher education and take into account the professional profiles of a modern university lecturer. The certification will improve teaching skills based on European educational innovations. The learning process should become richer, more interesting, and more useful for both students and all stakeholders. Universities will receive qualified human capital trained in the EU. The system of pedagogical skills development will be improved. The introduction of new certification processes will encourage teachers to grow personally and professionally.
Expected result:
A comparative study was conducted.
1. Developed a strategy and model of teaching skills.
2. Selected coaches from the EU.
3. Certification authorities have opened.
4. Professional standards for university teachers have been developed.
5. Improved regulations on the certification of teachers.
6. A curriculum for improving teaching has been developed.
7. A methodology for assessing certification has been created.
8. A group of listeners was created.
9. Accredited certification programs.
