NURE together with 6 Ukrainian universities and the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education involved in Unite! Community https://www.unite-university.eu.

The project is financially supported by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchanges NAWA (https://nawa.gov.pl/).

Main Tasks:

Green standards for Ukrainian universities in the field of education and research activities in the area of engineering and technical sciences (creation of a local version of green standards in the field of research and teaching activities taking into account the specifics of Ukrainian universities with compatibility with standards developed in the Unite! network, implementation of standards);
Green campus (development of a green campus model; implementation of standards and evaluation of the process of implementation of green standards in the area of research and teaching activities and campus functioning);
Summer school entitled GREEN TECHNOLOGIES FOR UKRAINE’S SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT (development and implementation of a 2-week course covering issues in disciplines that will be applied in the process of reconstruction and modernisation of industry and infrastructure of Ukraine for students of partner universities);
Unite! Micro-credentials system for Ukrainian partners (development of a system of Unite! micro-credentials in a thematically related field of green transformation and making it available to students from Ukrainian HEIs).

The project goal is to involve 7 Ukrainian universities in the Unite! Alliance, which is carried out within the framework of ERASMUS+ UNITE! Project (2022-2026) in the field of green transformation with the further prospect of establishing permanent and developing cooperation with Unite!

Project kick-off meeting

On March 11-16, a team meeting was held under the project “Education for the Green Transformation of Ukrainian Universities” funded by NAWA.

The event was attended by Head of the Management Department, Professor Natalia Vavdiuk and Associate Professor Iryna Abramova.

Dr. Mariusz Mazurkiewicz, Project Leader, spoke about the main objectives of the project, an overview of the progress of the work tasks, the project budget and financial management, and the organization of the summer school.

Dr. Anna Maria Kaminska, Wrocław Tech, spoke about macro-credit courses and their implementation in Ukraine.

The consortium members discussed the following questions:

Green Transition University - a concept. Potential for cooperation.
Green University model. Collecting feedback. Improving green standards. The needs of the university.

The introduction of green standards, the formation of added value in the quality assurance system, the importance of green standards and education for the green transition in the higher education system of Ukraine, the problems of taking into account the dynamics of green transformation processes were described by Dr. Natalia Stukalo, Deputy Head of the NAQA.

Project “European Consortium of Innovative Universities for Ukraine” (ECIU4Ukraine)

The project is funded by the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).

This is a project of supporting Ukrainian universities with the aim of involving them in the activities of European universities.

The project goal is to involve Ukrainian partners in the activities of the European University by supporting cooperation and academic exchange.

Project coordinator - Lodz University of Technology, Republic of Poland

10 universities from Ukraine are involved in participation in the project.

Duration: 12 months (January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023)

Project budget: 200,000 euros

The project provides for the holding of 3 conferences, 3 internships for teachers and participation in micro-modules for 20 students of higher education.

The project will be implemented by:

providing an opportunity for employees, PhD students and students of Ukrainian universities to participate in short forms of mobility (micro-modules, challenges) offered within the ECIU network. Since most of the short forms of training within the network take place remotely, the main task will be to meet the demand for the necessary equipment, which will allow the partner universities to have stable access to the above-mentioned classes and other forms of the activity described in the project;
participation of the Ukrainian academic community in study visits, internships, summer schools, seminars, workshops, pieces of training and courses organized by universities that are part of the ECIU network and provided by ECIU universities. The project provides for the direct involvement of participants in the above-mentioned activities at the relevant university, as well as in remote form, in case of the impossibility of conducting "offline" activities;
providing an opportunity for the Ukrainian academic community to participate in conferences organized by ECIU network universities, including the SMART-ER conference, that is, a conference on the joint research project of ECIU universities;
consultations and pieces of training in order to transfer knowledge and experience of the ECIU alliance to Ukrainian partners regarding modern educational methods and forms, for example, challenge-based learning, micro modules, etc.;
raising awareness of the Ukrainian academic community about the initiative of European universities, in particular the ECIU alliance. Implementation is planned in the form of a series of videos addressed to students and employees, as well as in the form of printed information and advertising materials.
