Highly qualified specialists from scientific, state management, and production institutions in agro-industrial production are involved in the educational process.

The department lecturers improve their qualifications in specialized scientific and scientific-methodical institutions of Ukraine and the European Union, as well as through participation in international scientific forums, conferences, and academic mobility programmes.

The department ensures the training of specialists according to the educational programme "Agronomy".

Historical background

The idea of establishing the Department of Agronomy at the Lutsk National Technical University dates back to the 2000s. Professor, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Mykhailo Yosypovych Shevchuk, Professor, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Yaroslav Oleksandrovych Molchak, Candidates of Agricultural Sciences - Mykola Ivanovych Zinchuk, Ihor Mykhailovych Merlenko, Serhiy Petrovych Bondarchuk, Volodymyr Andriiovych Havryliuk were the initiators of the department creation.

With the support of the Rector, then Lutsk State Technical University, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences Bozhydarnik Viktor Volodymyrovych, work began on the formation of professional and technological potential, the creation of an ideological basis for providing the agrarian sector with agronomic specialists based on our university.

In 2018 the specialty 201 Agronomy of the first (bachelor) level of higher education was licensed.

By 2022 more than 70 students in the "Agronomy" specialty were trained, the first graduation of bachelors - agronomists was carried out and accreditation was successfully passed.

In 2022, on the initiative of the dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technologies and Environmental Studies, Professor Ruslan Vasyliovych Kirchuk, by the decision of the Academic Council of LNTU, with the support of the Rector Vakhovych Iryna Mykhailivna, the Department of Agronomy was established.

As of October 1, 2022, Associate Professor Mykola Zinchuk was appointed the head of the Department of Agronomy following the results of a public competition.

The scientific and pedagogical activity of the newly created department was provided by highly qualified staff including Associate Professors M.I. Zinchuk, I.M. Merlenko, M.B. Avhustynovych, O.V. Valetska, and Professor A.M. Shvorak. and specialists Komovych L.V. and Polishchuk R.Y.
